Proof approval terms

1. Approving a proof. By approving a proof, you confirm that spelling, names, dates, numbers, colours, size, layout and quantity are correct. We will produce your order exactly as shown in the approved proof.
2. Changes. Your order includes 2 rounds of changes after the first proof. Each further round costs $15, and we will ask before charging.
3. No reply. If we don’t hear from you within 7 days of sending a proof, your order is paused and the estimated ship date moves back until you approve or request changes.
4. Errors after approval. Errors in an approved proof that you did not ask us to change are your responsibility, and a reprint is charged at the full price.
5. Colours. Screens show colour differently, so printed, stitched or engraved colours may vary slightly from the proof. Small colour differences are not a production error.
6. Production time. Production time starts after you approve the final proof, not when you place the order. Changes after approval may not be possible once production has started.

This wording is a starting point, not legal advice. Laws differ by state and country; have a lawyer review your terms before you use them.

Short version for the approve button

I have checked spelling, names, dates, colours, size and quantity, and I approve this proof for production exactly as shown. I understand that the shop is not responsible for errors in a proof I approved.

Put your terms where customers approve

MakeApproved is a Shopify app for proof approval. Customers approve the exact proof version on a no-login review page, with your own instructions on it, and every decision is kept on record. Pair these terms with the proof approval email templates, or see how the app works in Shopify and pricing. If a customer has already approved a proof with a mistake, read who pays for the reprint.

What is a proof disclaimer?

A short set of terms that tells the customer what approving a proof means: that they checked the details, that you make exactly what they approve, how many changes are included and what happens if they don’t reply.

Is this legal advice?

No. The generator gives you example wording to start from. Laws differ by state and country, so ask a lawyer to review your terms before you rely on them.

Where should I put my proof approval terms?

Show them before the customer pays (product page or checkout), repeat them in your first proof email, and put the short version next to the approve button on your proof page.

Can I auto-approve a proof if the customer doesn’t reply?

Only if your terms say so before the customer orders, and you remind them before the deadline. Keep a record that the proof was approved automatically rather than by the customer.

Is anything I type sent to MakeApproved?

No. The wording is built in your browser and nothing you type leaves the page.
